The teen years are a period of tremendous physical and emotional change, bringing their own unique challenges and rewards to teens and their families. This is a time when peer relationships gain in importance, and many important life decisions and choices need to be made regarding both the present and the future. Teens may engage in some form of risky or experimental behaviour during this time, which may create concern for parents who are attempting to provide guidance through these waters. Parents of teens often seek family counselling to improve communication and strengthen problem solving skills in the family. Teens themselves frequently request individual counselling to address concerns related to anxiety, depression, coping with the evolving challenges of high school, setting and reaching goals for the future, and relationship problems.
Frances Miller has extensive experience offering a variety of services to address the needs of the individual teen or the family unit, as requested by the client. Teens may be most comfortable coming in on their own, with one or both parents, or as a family as a whole. Frances offer teens the opportunity to explore their concerns and options for growth in an empathic, confidential, respectful atmosphere.
